Birdeye Settings
About

Product designer
This is the complete redesign of Birdeye settings page. The purpose was to help users accomplish their goals of updating anything within our dashboard from their purchased products to their account settings.
Problem
Many users were creating tickets for Birdeye's customer support team because they were unable to find specific products or features they wanted to update.
Core issues
Originally, the page would land users into their business profiles after clicking into Settings from the left navigation. Because of this unfamiliar experience, it was difficult for them to find specific products or features they wanted to manage.

What changed?
New UI/UX interactions

Updated page hierarchies

New components and features

User testing
With multiple design iterations, we used Maze.co to conduct user testing in determining which versions would yield better results.
The primary factors in design decisions were:
-
Shortest time to complete tasks
-
Least clickthrough mistakes
-
Least controversial issues/feedback

Search
With the problem statement in mind, we wanted to help users accomplish their goal of managing anything within their settings page. With the newly introduced search in Settings, users can enter any query and find the respective products and features.
Card interaction
Our goal was to achieve a settings page familiarity with all of these features, but also only show what the user really needs. From the user research and design iterations, we found out that one of the primary feedback was that there was too much text on the page. However, they still wanted to know what each product/feature item was about without clicking on each of them. We created a hover interaction to show the description.

What I learned
Interaction design
The hover state on each settings card reveals more information while reducing clutter when landing on the page.
Future thoughts
It would be helpful to update the information architecture as the grouping of cards can be improved.
